WE NEED YOUR HELP!
As most of you know, the prevention positions in our district were eliminated for next year. We are hopeful about two different pending grant proposals that would target alcohol and drug programming. However even if one of those is successful, the teen panels such as Bullies to Buddies, the Cultural Heritage Panel, the Relationship/Dating Violence Panel and the UNITOWN diversity workshops would cease to exist.
Our only hope to continue these teen leadership efforts is a grant. Our LHS and LFS teens have organized an online effort. We have written a grant proposal for a Pepsi grant, which is awarded monthly to 60 recipients. This is an online contest where for all 31 days in July, a person can go online and vote for a particular grant. We are up against 1000 other grants in our category and currently rank 119th! The top ten in the education category on July 31 will win a grant!
If you wish to help us, and/or can forward this to anyone you know who would really want this type of leadership programming to be available for teens, that would be, in the words of our students, so awesome!
Here is what folks can do:
Go to www.refresheverything.com/fyipeereducation or http://pep.si/bJRzQm
Then click on the first entry "Help 500 Teens Use Peer Teaching..."
Then click on "vote for this idea"
Then fill out the little box and click where it says "I am new" (this will let you set up a password)
Then it will send you back to the grant page where you can now click on "vote for this idea" again and your vote will count!
Once you are registered, then it takes even less time!
You are allowed 10 votes per day but only one per grant, so if you vote for other ideas make sure they are not in our category (Education-$50,000).
In case you are worried about getting spam mail out of this, Pepsi is NOT doing that...none of the voters, including my husband and myself, have gotten any such unwanted mail from doing this!
Whether you vote for us once or every day, we will very much appreciate it!
